Bengaluru ranks highest in the Ease of Living Index 2020

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs released the report on the Ease of Living Index with the cities having a population count above a million and the cities having a population less than a million on 4 March 2021. Shri Hardeep Singh Puri announced the report in an online program.


Considering the cities with more than a million population, Bengaluru appeared as the best performer with a 66.70 score, followed by Pune, Ahemadabad, Chennai, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Vadodra, Indore, Greater Mumbai. 111 cities were evaluated out of which 49 cities were for population count above million.

Ease of Living Index basically, determines the quality of life which includes (health, education, hygiene, sanitation, housing, waste management, etc), sustainability goals like environment, clean water and also human perception which is computed by the survey which was conducted between February and March.

These all initiatives help the government to identify to fulfil the gaps and disparities for a better future with proper development and awareness.

Amravati records the highest temperature in 15 years

 In the month of April, city is witnessing intense heat as the temperature reaches 44.1 degree

 Amravati has never been faced a high temperature touching 44.1 degree on Tuesday, which has been recorded so far the highest in past 15 years. According to the India Meteorological Department, today’s temperature is noted as 42 degree in the region. Temperature rising in the month of April is a big threat for the coming months.

 Last year in the month of April, the average temperature was counted 32 degree, where the minimum was 29 degree and the maximum was 40 degree, it never touched above 40 degree.

The construction of big buildings and flyovers in the Amravati, are one of the biggest reasons of rising temperature, trees count has been fallen in the last one year. Heatwaves have been increased which affects every individual in the region.

Uttarakhand has connected 9,32,548 water taps supply under JJM

 The Jal Shakti ministry of India started its program called ‘Har Ghar Jal’ in 2019, where the main focus was to provide water taps in every rural household. Uttarakhand has so far succeeded with 9,32,548 taps out of 15,18,115 as of the date which is higher by 53.85% from 2019.

The state has near about 15,264 villages out of which 3,078 villages have already started using the tap connection. Villages, where work supply work is in progress have been counted at 10,111 and 2,075 are such a number of villages where work supply work is yet to start. The total expenditure so far spend is 665.38 crore and the total available fund is around 1,194 crore.

Dehradun being the capital of the state has the highest water tap supply which is 1,22,785, followed by Haridwar with 1,04,841. The state is divided into two parts one is the Kumaouni and the other is Garhwal, so far Garhwal region is developing in a faster way than the other one. Champawat had the lowest water tap supply which is 33,739. The Jal Shakti Ministry was made by merging Ministries of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation along with Drinking Water and Sanitation. The ministry will initiate the ‘Nal se Jal scheme to provide water connection to every household by 2024.

Uttarakhand is the state where natural calamities severely affect say heavy rainfall, cloud burst blocks the water pipeline which connects the rural villages of the state because of which development needs proper directional planning. The program was launched to empower and emphasize more towards the rural development including schools, Anganwadi, local hospitals etc
