Uttarakhand has connected 9,32,548 water taps supply under JJM

The Jal Shakti ministry of India started its program called ‘Har Ghar Jal’ in 2019, where the main focus was to provide water taps in every rural household. Uttarakhand has so far succeeded with 9,32,548 taps out of 15,18,115 as of the date which is higher by 53.85% from 2019.

The state has near about 15,264 villages out of which 3,078 villages have already started using the tap connection. Villages, where work supply work is in progress have been counted at 10,111 and 2,075 are such a number of villages where work supply work is yet to start. The total expenditure so far spend is 665.38 crore and the total available fund is around 1,194 crore.

Dehradun being the capital of the state has the highest water tap supply which is 1,22,785, followed by Haridwar with 1,04,841. The state is divided into two parts one is the Kumaouni and the other is Garhwal, so far Garhwal region is developing in a faster way than the other one. Champawat had the lowest water tap supply which is 33,739. The Jal Shakti Ministry was made by merging Ministries of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation along with Drinking Water and Sanitation. The ministry will initiate the ‘Nal se Jal scheme to provide water connection to every household by 2024.

Uttarakhand is the state where natural calamities severely affect say heavy rainfall, cloud burst blocks the water pipeline which connects the rural villages of the state because of which development needs proper directional planning. The program was launched to empower and emphasize more towards the rural development including schools, Anganwadi, local hospitals etc
